The Society meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month except for the months of July, August and December.

The meetings are held at 7:30 pm at the Gordon Head United Church, 4201 Tyndall, Victoria, BC.

Club Profile

The Vancouver Island Rock and Alpine Garden Society was founded in 1921.

The purposes of the Society are:

to further the knowledge and cultivation of rock garden plants;
to encourage the conservation of rare and endangered rock garden plants, both in the wild and in cultivation;
to hold shows of rock garden plants;
to organize expeditions to allow members to study rock garden plants growing in their natural habitats;
to arrange lectures and other programmes on subjects related to the foregoing purposes;
to carry on such other activitiesas are not inconsistent with the above.

Members maintain a "Garden In the Park", a rock garden in Beacon Hill Park. Every five or six years the club hosts a Western Winter Study Weekend, featuring expert speakers, plant sales, hands-on workshops, plant displays and garden visits.
