The South Burnaby Garden Club has existed for over 100 years.
We pride ourselves on being a club where members can learn from each other and from expert speakers in all sorts of fields. We have monthly meetings with a judged show bench where we learn all about displaying our flowers and garden produce and how to create floral arrangements that garner points in competitions. We are one of the few clubs who still have a show bench every month and it's always very well stocked with creative displays. We have refreshments and prizes to be won as well as plants for sale at each meeting.
We have a very well stocked plant sale every April. Our members divide up their plants, start seedlings and we usually have lots of "grasses" for those moving to this new way of decorating their gardens. We hold our sales at the corner of Royal Oak and Rumble in the parking lot.
We have a member Garden Tour every year. We've changed the month for the tour over the years, and this year we will be trying something different. We'll be having Garden Tours throughout the Spring and Summer months featuring just 1 or 2 gardens at a time to allow for viewing each garden when it is at its best. Our members have demonstrated that there are many different styles of gardening and each one brings something new to the viewer.
Our annual Fall Fair in September is amazing. We have many expert gardeners who grow wonderful, fruits, vegetables and great bakers and wine makers who also compete for prizes. We also have a children's competition to encourage younger gardeners.
We are a very welcoming, social and fun club and we share knowledge and plants with each other. We are always looking for new members to help them learn along with us.
