Club Profile

The Sechelt Garden Club was established on November 21, 1967 and from a small group of four founding members, Janet Allen, Frank and Nancy Read and Dave Howard, membership has grown to 169. An indepth history was written to celebrate the club's 40th anniversary on November 24, 2007.

Monthly meetings have on average 60 to 75 members. Our policy is to have quality and dynamic presenters with opportunity for audience interaction. An annual Mother's Day Plant Sale, only two hours long, is our main fundraiser, and is held on the lawns of Sechelt's Seaside Centre. Seasonal Garden Tours, an educational Caron Gardens Rhododendron Experience, a Bowen Island and Gibson's Garden Club Tour Exchange, are part of our activities. We garden at Shorncliff Seniors' Residence, have an active "Carrot/Veggies" group and are partners supporting the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society. Fees are $15.00 per year. Strawberry Tea, Spring Fling, and Christmas Lunch are key social events.
