Club Profile

The inaugural meeting of The Enderby Garden Club was held March 15, 2001 with 15 gardeners in attendance. The club has grown over the past 6 years to over 40 members and has steadily increased its community exposure.

The declared goals of our club are to educate the members in gardening skills and techniques, promote gardening in the community and to provide an opportunity to socialize. Our club hasdone this well. Most monthly meetings have a guest speaker and an opportunity to mix and mingle. We frequently hold plant exchanges at our meetings.

In addition, starting with a modest table at the 2001 Farmers Market Christmas Bazaar, the club now holds an annual Spring Garden Fair each April. The Fair has exhibitors of garden related products, plant sales, and guest speakers. This has become a major event which attracts hundreds of visitors.

We work closely with the Enderby Communities in Bloom Committee (Enderby was Provincial winner in its category in 2005). With Enderby in Bloom, we co-sponsor an annual garden tour in June where people can take a self-guided tour of Enderby's finest gardens.

The club is responsible for the maintenance of the Cornerstone Garden (started by Enderby in Bloom) which has become a prime downtown attraction. For two years now, we have held a summer Flower Show that we hope to continue and expand.

In the summer we have started a members' garden tour where club members tour select members gardens and finish off with wine and cheese at the last garden on the tour. It combines learning about other gardens with socializing. Or do we really need an excuse to have a Garden Party? Don't forget the summer BBQs with neighbouring clubs from Salmon Arm and Armstrong. And the Christmas Party. We never slow down, there is always something happening with the Enderby and District Garden Club.
